Working in most regions of England, we support over 1,200 young people and adults who have a broad range of learning difficulties, including people with autistic spectrum disorders or acquired brain injury. The people we support may also have complex needs or mental health issues. Our purpose is to help people with learning difficulties to live the life they want.
New Support Options is committed in communicating in a way in which the people we support prefer, we believe everyone communicates.
Below are some of the ways we use Total Communication:
- Intensive interaction.
- Storyboards to plan out someone’s day.
- Photo diary’s to enable people to make choices.
- Makaton.
- Music and sensory communication.
- Communicating with people who use body language, eye contact and gestures.
- Meetings are held in a way in which everyone can be involved.
- Easy read documents, support plans and person centred plans.
